Climbing to the top
As you've hopefully seen, the FRS is made up of many different roles. Each one requires different skill sets, but whichever position you go for, there is always an opportunity to develop yourself and climb the career ladder.
How quickly you progress is up to you. It doesn't matter how long you've served, if you demonstrate the right skills and abilities you could be leading a crew or managing a Fire Station within four years through our pilot Fast Track Scheme.
Here's an example of one of our success stories.
Dany Cotton
Dany joined the FRS 21 years ago as a trainee Firefighter. She took to the job like a duck to water and was soon making a name for herself as a great team player. Over the years she has shown great enthusiasm for the job and taken all the opportunities presented to her.
Now Dany is Deputy Assistant Commissioner at London Fire Brigade.
Hear what she has to say about the FRS.
